Paid subscribers get two extra issues a month. New this year, one of those is ET Leave Home. Each month, I’ll give you a list of recommendations for a different city. This month, we’re going to Pittsburgh.
This month’s ET Leave Home is a week late but fresher for it: My husband and I spent most of last week on a little vacation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Before we went, the question we got most about this destination was, “why Pittsburgh?” And I didn’t really have a good answer to that besides “it’s a few hours from DC and we’d been once before because I spoke at the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books and liked the city and I have a friend who lives there and we want to go to a Pirates game.” However, having just come back last Thursday, I have a new answer, which is that Pittsburgh is a gem! And you, too, can appreciate this jewel.
Before I begin, let me thank the reader who suggested that I go to the vegan Central Eastern European restaurant, Apteka. I wanted to go. I emailed them asking if we could make a reservation even though they don’t normally take reservations for just two people because our time in Pittsburgh was so limited. However, they are closed the days we were there. Next time!
Happily, there are other places to dine in Pittsburgh.
